Dr. Ren offers an Online Course — Health Equity in Action: Designing Culturally Competent, Community-Centered Research Programs — a 6-week, self-paced program led by Dr. Renarda Jones, Founder & Executive Director of Diverse Research Now, designed to help learners build practical skills for advancing health equity in real-world research engagement. Using the 4-E Model (Educate, Engage, Empower, Extend), participants will learn how to identify barriers to inclusion, build trust with underrepresented communities, and design culturally competent, participant-centered research programs, culminating in a hands-on capstone project.

Dr. Ren is a leader in the movement to increase diversity in clinical trials and improve health equity, with over 20 years of experience in clinical research (mostly dementia-related studies) and a doctorate in health science. Dr. Ren brings a unique blend of scientific expertise and community advocacy to her work, focusing on bridging gaps between clinical research and underrepresented communities.
Dr. Ren is the founder of Diverse Research Now (DRN), a nonprofit organization established to address the lack of diversity in clinical trials. DRN’s mission is to educate, empower, and engage communities that have been underrepresented in clinical research, breaking down barriers to participation and fostering trust between researchers and the communities they serve.
In addition, Dr. Ren is the host of the Voices of Inclusive Research Podcast, a platform dedicated to bridging the gap between researchers and the community. Through the podcast, she highlights the lived experiences of underrepresented individuals in clinical research, fosters open conversations about the challenges and opportunities in diversifying research, and shares community-driven insights for improving health equity.
Dr. Ren’s work is rooted in a passion for transforming clinical research into a space where diversity and inclusion are the norm, not the exception. She is dedicated to normalizing research conversations, empowering communities through education, and creating systemic change in how clinical trials are conducted.
Dr. Ren is open to speaking engagements and consulting opportunities to share her expertise on dementia-related clinical research studies, engaging diverse communities, building trust in research, and the transformative work of Diverse Research Now and the Voices of Inclusive Research Podcast.
